Legal advice in your pocket
For your security, we do not store your chat history on our servers. What you type stays in this browser session only — we cannot recover it for you later.
The only way to restore a conversation is to load a chat you saved earlier. Use Save Chat during or after a chat, then Continue Chat in the menu when you want to pick up where you left off.
Upload a previous chat?
If you saved a Pocket Lawyer chat, you can load it now and pick up where you left off.
Chats saved after a credit top-up include your activation key. Older or free-tier chats without a key cannot be loaded until you top up and save a new chat.

Pocket Lawyer ("the app", "we", "us", "our") is a practice tool that lets you run through tricky or awkward real-life conversations with an AI playing the role of the other person. By accessing or using the app you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Pocket Lawyer is provided for general practice, entertainment and educational purposes only. It is not professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to legal, financial, medical, psychological, therapeutic, insurance, employment or counselling advice. The other person in every conversation is simulated by artificial intelligence and does not represent a real person, organisation or professional.
Nothing in the app should be relied upon when making real-world decisions. You should always seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting on anything discussed in or suggested by the app.
Pocket Lawyer is not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number.
If you need urgent mental-health support in the UK, you can contact Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7) or visit samaritans.org. For urgent medical advice in the UK, call NHS 111.
Responses, suggested lines, feedback, and images are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive or misleading. We do not review or guarantee any content produced by the app, and you use it entirely at your own discretion and risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations relating to the app, which is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we (together with our owners, operators, employees, suppliers and partners) accept no liability for any loss, damage, cost or injury — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or otherwise — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the app, or any reliance on its content. This includes, without limitation, any outcome of a real conversation, decision, action or inaction taken on the basis of anything you saw, read or did in the app.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse it, attempt to disrupt it, or use it to harass, harm or deceive others. We may suspend or withdraw access at any time without notice.
The app uses cookies and browser storage that are necessary for it to work. These are not used for advertising. Examples include:
By continuing to use the app, or by selecting "Accept" on the cookie banner, you consent to this use where required by law. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time; some features may stop working if you do. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on server data and retention.
The free plan includes a limited number of credits (currently 40 in total, up to 8 per chat, text only). Document uploads are not available on the free plan. Optional credit top-ups add credits to your account: one-time purchases at prices shown at checkout (currently £4.99 for 60 credits, £14.99 for 200 credits, and £29.99 for 500 credits on the website). Paid credits do not expire. After your first purchase you also unlock document and photo uploads in chat (currently 2 credits per document, plus 1 credit for Pocket Lawyer to read it and reply), ready-to-send email drafts, and continuing a saved conversation from a chat file — with no per-chat cap, only your remaining balance.
Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our server.
After purchase you receive a license key by email (format TC5-…, or legacy
TC1-… / dated keys). Enter the key on any device to activate; the same key
may be shared — credit limits apply to the key, not to how many devices use it. Repeat
top-ups add credits to the same key when that key is active on the device you buy from.
Paid features that call AI APIs are subject to fair use. We may suspend keys that are abused or used to attempt to bypass technical limits.
Credit top-ups are delivered digitally (license key and credited balance) as soon as
payment succeeds, so statutory withdrawal rights may not apply once the key is issued —
check applicable consumer law in your country. Top-ups are one-time purchases, not
subscriptions; they do not auto-renew. Legacy dated keys may include an expiry embedded
in the key format; current TC5-… keys do not expire.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Pocket Lawyer. If you are under 18, you should use the app with a parent or guardian's permission. The app includes scenarios about adult life (work, relationships, housing, health calls) that may not be suitable for younger children.
Pocket Lawyer is operated from the United Kingdom. Website: https://pocketlawyer.life.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after any change means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes to privacy practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Pocket Lawyer ("we", "us", "our") is a web app at pocketlawyer.life that helps you rehearse difficult everyday conversations with AI. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process when you use the app and your choices.
A short summary is in the footer link Your data.
On our server
sessions.db) only to keep that visit
working, then are deleted automatically (see section 5).
Uploaded files and photos are not stored: on paid plans we read each
attachment once to draft the next reply (text extraction or image/PDF analysis), then
discard the file; only your typed message and a note that you attached a filename may
appear in the chat history. We do not use chat content for advertising or build a
customer profile from it. Paid license keys are tracked by a secure fingerprint (not
the key itself) so reply allowances cannot be reset by reinstalling the app.
In your browser (local storage & cookies)
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use third-party advertising trackers on the app. If the site operator enables Plausible Analytics, that service measures traffic without cross-site tracking cookies.
To generate replies and images we send relevant parts of your scenario and conversation to AI providers configured on our server (for example Google Gemini and/or OpenAI). Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Premium checkout is processed by Stripe. We email your license key after payment; keys are validated on our servers.
Transactional email (license keys) is sent through the SMTP service configured in our environment (for example Gmail or your domain host).
If you are in the UK or EEA you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability, subject to exceptions. Because most practice data is tied to an anonymous session id in your browser, the easiest way to erase it is to clear site data for pocketlawyer.life. For other requests, see the ICO link below or clear site data as described above.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.
Pocket Lawyer is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we become aware that a child under 13 has used the app, we will delete associated server sessions where possible.
Our server may be in the UK or EU. AI and payment providers may process data in other countries under their standard contractual safeguards.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
See also our Terms & Conditions.
What we hold
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Pocket Lawyer is built to use as little of your personal information as possible. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not keep a marketing database of your chats, and we do not sell your data. The only personal detail we routinely use at checkout is the email address you enter, so we can email your licence key and invoice. Credit balances are tied to your licence key, not your email.
While you are chatting: your messages are processed in real time so the app can reply. They may exist briefly in server memory or a technical session store only to keep that visit working, then are removed automatically (see our Privacy Policy for retention). We do not treat that temporary technical data as a customer record or use it for marketing.
Your browser may store a session id, your Premium licence key, and similar settings in local storage or cookies on your device. That data stays on your device unless you clear site data. We do not read it from other people's devices.
To generate replies or images we send the text needed for that request to AI providers configured on our server (for example Google Gemini and/or OpenAI). They process it under their own terms. We do not control how long they retain logs on their systems.
Checkout is processed by Stripe. License keys are issued by Pocket Lawyer after payment. Licence emails are sent through the mail service configured for the site.
For security and reliability we may write minimal server-side logs (for example date, time, and IP address when someone visits or installs the app). These logs are not linked to your chat content and are not used for advertising.
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time. For access, correction, or deletion under UK/EEA data-protection law, clearing site data for pocketlawyer.life is the simplest option. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Legal stuff.
Pocket Lawyer provides general legal information generated by AI. It is not legal advice and does not create a solicitor–client relationship. You must not rely on this notice or the app as a substitute for professional advice about your situation or about your data-protection obligations.
This summary is provided for transparency and convenience. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all warranties (express or implied) about the accuracy or completeness of this notice and the app. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special loss arising from your use of the app or from reliance on this notice. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law (including UK GDPR rights where they apply).
If anything in this summary conflicts with our Privacy Policy or Terms, the Privacy Policy and Terms prevail.
We may update this notice from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated notice.

Leave this chat?
Save your chat before you go if you might want this conversation later — for your records or to share with a solicitor.
You can continue this chat later — open the app again, tap Continue Chat, and load the chat you saved. Your scenario and messages are kept in that file.

Changes you made may not be saved. Save your chat first if you want to keep this conversation.
Save your chat
Your chat is ready to save. Keep it somewhere you can find it later — you can also share it with a solicitor as a transcript of what you discussed here.
To pick up where you left off later, tap Continue Chat on the home page and load the chat you save. Your scenario, settings, and conversation are stored in that file.
Continue Chat — credit top-up
This chat file does not include an activation key from a credit top-up, or it was saved before you topped up. Buy a top-up, then use Save Chat in chat so the key is embedded — you can load that chat on any device.

Restore Chat
